Lisbon Atlas
Threshold, the idea of a point of entry or beginning point is the theme of my Atlas and acted as a way of exploring the city. Entryways have always been an interest of mine, as I have constantly photographed them in many cities of the world. Elements like the door, the window, or the transition space between the exterior and interior have always formed a high interest of mine. I fi nd that these elements act as the direct link between the built form and the user, a glimpse into what the building may feature. While exploring Lisbon, I was guided by that idea of transition, the path from here to there. The way in which a person enters their home or workplace, the path one must take to enter or to exit. These places would attract me into different areas of the city; a unique threshold on the left or an enticing villa to the right. The streets acted as boundaries to these thresholds, while the transition itself revealed new or exciting places initially unseen.
